People Skills
Sometimes being a leader is tough...
Sometimes being a leader means dealing with difficult situations, or difficult people. Sometimes the situation resolves quickly, and at other times it is not so easy. The better the leader deals with a difficult situation, the happier and more motivated the team will be.
Signs that this process isn’t working so well are increasing levels of sickness absence, unpaid leave, staff turnover or complaints (internal or external) or reductions in productivity.
When leaders are struggling to deal with these situations, working through the process in a systematic way, looking at alternative approaches, experiencing different perspectives and having a safe place to review what is happening can be very valuable. It helps to shorten the length of the conflict, and to keep things in perspective.
This type of programme is much more intensive, with weekly one to one meetings and telephone follow up as required. Usually such programmes will run for three months, or up to six months for complex issues. Successful resolution of such situations usually save the business many thousands of pounds.
